Beverley Sandoy creates and makes designer cushions right here in New Zealand from her home workshop, inspired by her surroundings on Waiheke Island and the world around her.
Beverley’s love of designer cushions & how it all began.
Our little online store started on a rainy day. Beverley sat with her family, talking about her dream of starting an online business with the thirty years of interior design experience behind her. With a love for sitting at her sewing machine and creating cushions out of beautiful fabrics, it didn’t take a lot of convincing for her to say, “let’s give it a go!”. No expectations, no previous online business experience, nothing to lose. Our small business is a project that has been envisioned by someone who has been passionate about design her whole life.
When she was sixteen years old, Beverley was sewing clothes and selling them to her friends. At thirty, she left her previous career as an airline hostess to explore her real passion for interior design. Opening her own business, Beverley had her first interior shop in Herne Bay, Auckland, before expanding and moving to Newmarket for six years. After spending all her free time on Waiheke Island, she decided to make the move permanently and call the island her home. Today, Beverley wants to make her interior creations accessible to those who would like them in their own home. Cutting down on her interior design work and moving into the home studio with her fabrics, she’s focussing on her passion of putting schemes together, crafting new cushions, and selecting the highest quality furs and throws for your home.
You can find Beverley hidden away in her studio, excitedly making her next design. In our house, fabrics are strewn all over the kitchen table, and bit by bit, Beverley’s designs have taken over every free space in the house. Our storage room is filled with cushions, furs and throws ready to be placed in your home. Our little online store is purely a passion project for us. When asked what her main principle has been during all her years working as an interior designer, Beverley believes that the home is where the heart is, and that we should adore the space that we live in. We’re here for you to achieve just that.
